February Randomocity

Here's a few random pics from the first week in February:

Super Bowl Sunday - Our friends the Lopez' invited us over to their house to watch the Super Bowl. We were very excited about it because the AZ Cardinals were in it. In fact we were so into the game that this picture of Anthony, Shaylin, and Emmalyn is literally the only picture we have to show for the whole afternoon and we didn't even get their friend Kaitlin ,who was also there, in it! We were more than a little bummed when the Cardinals lost on a late touchdown by the Steelers (though looking back at the fact now that they made it to the Super Bowl it was beyond a successful season, especially by Cardinals standards).

These next two are of Emmalyn at the Brugman's house. This one is her taking a break from searching through her cereal option in the pantry and making her classic cheesy grin...

This one is of Emmalyn standing on her own. This picture was taken on Feb. 5 and since then she's actually taken her first steps a few days later and is now able to take 5 or 6 steps before falling. It won't be long until she's walking all over the place.

Emmalyn 'pushing' Shaylin in her toy car.

'What's are these next few pictures of?', you might be thinking to yourself. Oh, it's just the wooden box full of worms that Matt built and put in our garage. 'Why on earth would you have a box full of worms in your garage' might just be your next thought. Matt has decided to try 'vermicomposting' which basically consists of feeding worms left over kitchen scraps and then collecting their castings (aka: worm poop) after a few months and using it as soil/fertilizer for the garden. It's supposed to be one of the best (if not the best) organic fertilizers you can get, so we'll see how well it works. So Matt built the box, ordered a pound of composting worms in the mail, and voila, we now have a worm bin. Jayna's still not sure how she feels about it, but Shaylin is pretty excited about having worms. She even doesn't mind holding them!

We didn't get a picture of the worms right after Matt put them in there, but there was about 1,000 of them. This picture is after they had started spreading out and digging into the bedding, but you can still see some of them if you zoom in.
