(Big) Surfing in AZ

May 10th

Two Saturdays ago we got to go to Big Surf, one of the local water parks. It's not actually open to the public yet but Honeywell (the company Matt works for) rented it out for a company picnic. It was a ton of fun and Shaylin absolutely loved playing in 'Captain Cook's Landing' which is their play area for little kids. We even got free lunch - all you can eat hamburgers and hot dogs. They do this every year but this is the first time we have gone. We hope to make it an annual event for our family.

This was while we were still at the house before leaving for Big Surf. Shaylin had climbed into the double stroller and was waiting patiently for us to leave...

Jayna looked back on the car ride and saw that Shaylin decided to share her seat with her baby doll. As always she got a big kick out of herself...


Matt got to hang out with Shaylin in the water while Jayna watched Emmalyn. He made numerous attempts to get Jayna to switch places but the water was a little cool so Jayna opted to stay out. We had a hard time trying to get Shaylin to smile while she was in the water since she seemed to be concentrating on making sure she wouldn't fall. When she was walking around in the water she tried to pick each leg all the way up out of the water to take each step - it was cute. This was the first time we'd been swimming since last year so Matt was sporting a pretty sweet farmer's tan.

There was two little water slides in the play area. This one was a frog. Shaylin must have gone down it at least twenty five times. She just kept saying 'frog slide... again' every time after she went down.


This was the other slide. She loved this one too and probably went down it at least twenty five times as well. She'd say the same thing as the frog slide every time she go to the bottom except it was 'seal slide... again.'

We realized after we got home that we didn't really get any pictures of Emmalyn while we were there. We actually kept her covered from the sun in the stroller for most of the time. Next year she should be big enough to play in the water with Shaylin though.
