June 4th-
Jayden and Derek's Big Day!
We are finally getting around to Jayden's (Jayna's little sister) wedding post. Jayden and Derek got married on June 4th at the Castle at Ashley Manor. The ceremony and reception were beautiful and everything went really well. It was so much fun to be there and to be a part of. Jayna did Jayden's hair. They had a nice big dressing room for Jayden and the bridesmaids that we were able to use to get ready in. Big thanks to Jayna's Aunt Melissa for helping do all the bridesmaids hair at the last minute.
Seeing the pictures of Jayden's hair in progress looks a little funny. She looked like she was from "who-ville" on The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It turned out great, but we didn't get any close up pictures of her hair after it was done.
Not sure why she has big eyes...maybe because she has big hair. Jayna and Jayden...

In the process of doing the back...again it looks crazy, but turned out great. :0)

We were lucky to have lots of family in town to help keep track of Shaylin and Emmalyn while we were getting ready and during the wedding. Emmalyn looked so cute in her little dress.

Mitzi, Matt's mom was a HUGE help in watching the girls during the reception. We couldn't have survived it without her! Thank you!!

We were excited to have our good friends Dave and Ashley Trump take the pictures at the wedding and reception. Dave did an awesome job like we knew he would. We'll have to post some of the professional ones later.
Here is Dave talking with Jaylene (Jayna's mom) with Jay (Jayna's dad) in the background.

The garden outside of the 'Castle' was absolutely beautiful with water features that the girls loved walking around and looking at. Shaylin was the flower girl and did a great job. Although she threw the flowers while she walked down the isle at the rehearsal she did not drop very many at the actual wedding. Everybody was trying to get her to throw them so she decided to run back to where the seats started but then forgot to throw the flowers when she walked down the aisle for the second time. Then when she was standing up front and the wind blew a few of the petals out of her basket she was going to try to chase them all down and pick them up until we told her that it was fine if she left them. She did make a beautiful flower girl though.

There was a wall full of statues outside and of course Matt found one to ride. We had to take the picture quickly before any workers noticed. The animal he's riding is actually hidden, but rest assured it was some kind of ferocious beast.

Here's our little growing family in front of the water feature. Of course we couldn't get a picture with both Emmalyn and Shaylin smiling, but at least Shaylin's smiling in this one while Emmalyn's trying her hardest to escape.

The beautiful bride with her neices Shaylin and Emmalyn.

Shaylin enjoying herself sitting next to one of the bridesmaids (Megan Halverson) at the wedding party table while the groomsmen gave their speeches. Shaylin happily clapped with everyone else after each one spoke.

The bride and grooms dance...

We had so much fun dancing with all the cousins. Shaylin LOVED dancing. Unfortunately we couldn't get a good video because it was a little dark on the dance floor, but she was a dancing machine. It was hilarious, because she wouldn't stop dancing and was dancing in front of everyone. She's usually so shy but we think it was a combination of her being tired and just having fun being around so much family. The cha-cha slide is where it ALL began!

Emmalyn and Jayden on the dance floor...

Jayna's Aunt Melissa and Shaylin dancing...

Aww, Emmalyn loving on her Aunt Jayden. Emmalyn loves her.

Jayna and Shaylin maybe taking a quick picture break while doing the cha-cha slide...

Shaylin grooving to the music...

Shaylin danced for so long, mostly shifting her weight back and forth and pumping her arms up and down like this. She was dancing like this for at least 20 minutes.

Everyone formed a big circle and watched Shaylin and Jayna's cousin Preslee put on a show for a lot of the time they were dancing. This is just one angle, there was a lot more people forming a half circle watching!

Shaylin still groovin...

Emmalyn decided to join them and was having too much fun dancing. Her favorite move consists of picking up one foot at a time and moving her body back and forth. It's very cute.

It was still a fast song, but Preslee and Shaylin decided they wanted to slow things down a bit and slow danced together...

It was such a fun night and we were sad that it had to come to an end. Here's Derek and Jayden leaving through a cloud of bubble.

We had so much fun and are so grateful to have Derek in our family now. He is a wonderful guy who's a great addition to the family and we're excited for their future as well as for being able to make memories with them in the future. We're also looking forward to Shaylin and Emmalyn having cousins on Jayna's side someday (several years down the road, of course, but at least now it's an eventual possibility)
We didn't leave until 10pm and it was definitely a late night for the girls. They fell asleep in their car seats before we even left the parking lot.
We decided we hadn't got a picture together that night with all the business, so before we left we got a quick picture together.

Shaylin is such a ham! What a fun little girl. When I had her in nursery the other day, she kept calling me by name! I was so impressed! I didn't know she had actually picked up on it. And Emmalyn is growing up so fast! I can't believe it.
So cute! You did a great job with the hair, Jayna!
Hahahah I love the one of Matt and the statue!!!! That was a fun day ;o) Glad we could be a part of it!
