June Update

JUNE, JUNE, JUNE

June was a very busy and exciting month for us. This will be a long post with short captions, so bare with us!

June 6th-

Our great friends, the Trump's, came to AZ to take pictures for Jayden's (Jayna's sister) wedding and while they were in town they came to visit at the Brugman's house.

Emmalyn and Dominic hanging out on the stairs.

Inching closer...

That same day, Preslee (Jayna's cousin) and Shaylin decided it was time for some otter pops.

June 9th-

Jayna's big 26th birthday. (I feel old now!) My parents watched the girls and we just went out to dinner to Pei Wei, one of our favorite places. We celebrated a little more the following weekend, but it was nice to go out for dinner. We took a picture later that night at home, because we forgot to take one earlier! I think I was about 12 1/2 weeks along in this picture...(big belly already! ugh)

June 13th-

Matt did something so fun for me this year! He had a surprise evening planned for my birthday weekend. (Although, by the end of the day I figured out what the plan was) It was so much fun. On Saturday, we dropped the girls off at Becca and Andy's (Matt's sister's house) and they watched the kids until a little later when John (Matt's brother) came over to our house that night to stay with the girls while they were sleeping. It was literally the first time EVER that we had someone come stay at our house while we went on a late date. Thanks so much to Becca, Andy, and John!

We picked up Jayson (Jayna's brother) and Leah (Jayson's girlfriend) to go to the Dbacks game. It wasn't so much the Dbacks game that was a surprise, because we have been lucky enough to go to multiple games this year since Jayna's parents have season tickets, but there was a Lifehouse concert following the game. Matt knows how much I LOVE LOVE Lifehouse, and Jayna's dad got the tickets for Matt and I by switching his tickets for another game with someone else so we could go. It was so much fun and especially fun going with Jayson and Leah, because that was our first time going on a double date with them. The Dbacks ended up losing, but the concert was WONDERFUL! I loved it and wished we could have gone on the field, because the majority of the people on the field were just standing their lifeless and not even screaming! It bothered me, but we were still a couple rows back in the stands. The last time we saw Lifehouse was when they came to Maricopa for a community event and I got to stand literally 5 feet in front of them. We are hoping to go to a full Lifehouse concert someday, but I'm so happy we are able to see them live again in the mean time. They are so awesome! Matt, thanks so much for the exciting night! You're the best and I love you!

June 14th-

Shaylin, Emmalyn, and Savannah (Jayna's cousin) having a fun time swinging at the Brugman's.

Shaylin helping Jayna blow out the candles on her birthday cake...

June 16th-

Poor Emmalyn got her first black eye. She pulled a big jewelry cabinet over on top of her that was standing up on the floor waiting to be hung. She got a bloody lip and a black eye. It was so sad!

June 18th-

Shaylin having a good time playing with her friend Maycie while we hung out at the Taylor's after eating dinner.

Swim Lessons

Shaylin took swim lessons for the first time ever during the month of June. She had lessons two times a week at 8am for 4 weeks. She was VERY hesitant at first. She would not get in the water for the first 3-4 lessons or so, but by the end of the month, after I finally decided to get in the water and hold her, because she is very shy and didn't want the teacher to hold her, she was doing great and she can now swim by herself with floaties. Of course she didn't have floaties on for her lessons, but we're hoping the floaties will help her learn to swim by herself soon. She is a little fish now and loves to swim every chance she gets.

Jayna had to wake Shaylin up for every lesson. 8am is still pretty early in our household to be awake, let alone be somewhere. Here she is ready to go to one of her lessons.

Here is Shaylin walking out of swim lessons with a sucker, because she kicked and swam to the other side of the pool with the help of Jayna. The sucker incentive that Shaylin's teacher used worked great to motivate her.

Here is Shaylin in the pool a few weeks later at one of her last lessons.

June 19th-

When Grandma Pam (Jayna's grandma) was visiting in June, she bought the girls matching dresses. Preslee (Jayna's younger cousin, Shaylin's age) has this dress also, so grandma thought it would be fun to buy the girls the same one and also Sydney (Jayna's 6 month old cousin).

June 22nd-

Emmalyn has learned to climb up on the piano bench all by herself and she LOVES to play the piano. It is cute to listen and watch her. She plays so softly and doesn't bang on it.. hopefully that lasts.

P.S. She also LOVES to wear necklaces and puts them on by herself.

This day was also the day of Emmalyn's first hair cut. No, it was not done by Shaylin. :0) Apparently Shaylin has been watching Jayna closely because she used the proper technique by holding her fingers the right way, which is funny because Jayna has had a hard time trying to teach some adults to hold it the right way. Even though Emmalyn really didn't need a trim badly, Jayna likes to shape the girls hair up by trimming it a little.

Both girls like getting their hair done and do great getting it cut, which Jayna is grateful for!

Shaylin wanted to give Emmalyn a mo-hawk and stick it straight up.

June 25th-

It is so fun to see the girls playing together now that they are older. They usually do a really good job at playing nicely together and we're hoping it stays that way.

Lately, Shaylin has been dying to use her pink umbrella that she has never used. Luckily we got a few drops of rain one morning, so we ran outside as fast as we could to enjoy the few drops of rain that we got.

Yep, she is still in her pajamas, but hey they luckily match the umbrella and she looks cute!

June 26th-

Shaylin wanted to show off her new swimming skills, so we went to Jayna's parents house to swim. Emmalyn also had fun swimming with us with her little vest and car to float in.

Shaylin swimming around by herself and loving it.

June 27th-

This is now a daily occurence in Emmalyn's bed when the girls wake up in the morning. Once they wake up and are done babbling to each other, Shaylin gets all the toys that are in their doll crib and puts them all in Emmalyn's crib and hops in with her. This was the first time Shaylin piled all the toys in the crib. They love sleeping together in the same room.
