Our Trip to the Zoo

One of our early Christmas presents this year was a Phoenix Zoo membership from Grandma Olsen (Matt's mom's mom). For any of you living in the Phoenix Area it's a smokin deal to get the membership. It pays for itself in less then three visits and you can set it up so the second adult on the membership can be a 'guest,' which means Jayna and Shaylin can take another adult with them anytime they want to go if Matt's not available. OK, there's our promotion for the zoo. On to our visit.

We went the day after Thanksgiving, so it was pretty crowded, but it was still a lot of fun. Jaymee (Jayna's little sister) came with us. Shaylin was fascinated by all the animals - or all the 'dogs,' which is what she says while pointing at any type of animal she sees. It was a perfect day and it was nice to be outside and to get a little exercise while walking back and forth through the zoo.

Most of the pictures we tried to take with Shaylin in front of the animals turned out like this...

and like this....

or like this with her making a funny face as she stared at the animals. She was fixated with a giraffe in this picture.

Here we are at the flamingo's area. Shaylin was pointing at the swans that were in a little pond close by.

Shaylin also loved being able to run around everywhere since most of the paths were paved. It seems like just a few months ago that this tiny looking hat looked big on her!

Since Shaylin was so awestruck with the animals she wasn't smiling a lot, so here we resorted to having Jaymee tickle her right before the picture.

Such cute pics! Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving and a good time at the zoo. Our first time at the zoo was not very successful! :) The only real animal Halle saw was a jaguar but she could barely see it because it was hiding from the heat!
