Derek the Dodger

August 16th

To make a long story short, our brother-in-law Derek was planning on playing baseball at BYU this fall along with Jaycob, Jayna's little brother, but one week after moving to Utah the Dodgers made a better offer than the one they made to him a few weeks earlier that he had turned down.

So right after getting almost completely unpacked in Utah, Derek and Jayden flew back to Arizona so that he could sign his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. We are very excited for them and this new adventure in their lives. We were also happy they moved back to Arizona (they will be here for sure until March) so that we can continue to live close to them and see them often.

The day after Derek signed they invited their families and a few friends to Native New Yorker for some pizza and wings on them. It was a fun evening and we got to meet the scout that signed him along with his agent.

The scout that signed Derek has a tradition where he has every player he signs autograph a baseball for him. So this is right after Derek's first autograph as a Dodger (unless you count the autograph that Jayna's cousin got from him the day before)...
