Jam Session

February 13th-

The NBA All-Star game was held in Phoenix a few weeks ago. We took the girls to the NBA All-Star Jam Session that was held downtown at the Convention Center. We went to the Jam Session a couple years back when it was in Las Vegas and Shaylin was about 6 months old. We had so much fun back then that we figured Shaylin would really enjoy it now that she was older. We love basketball and the Phoenix Suns, so we were really excited to go.

The week leading up to the Jam session Shaylin couldn't stop talking about it. She was so excited even though she had no idea what it was that we were going to. She even talked about it a few days after we went. It was cute seeing Shaylin so excited. She ended up having a lot of fun and so did we.

Here is a picture that Matt took as we were walking in. They have tons of people standing on each side of the 'red carpet' to give you high fives and cheer as you walk in. Shaylin thought that was pretty cool, although you can't tell from the picture.


They had tons of different exhibits to stop or play at. This is what we did first. We took a picture with the Suns team. It was basically a giant cut out of the team - we got a picture with the whole team, but we cropped it down do it was easier to see on here...


Next we headed to the Kid Zone area where they had a bunch of games for the younger kids. Here's Shaylin on a little bouncy ball. The picture's a little blurry, but it's still cute...


They had a big blow up obstacle course that Shaylin had a lot of fun in right until she went through this tunnel and couldn't see Matt for a second. He ended up getting her out shortly after that.


They also had one of those big blow up bouncy gym things that she played on for a while, until she couldn't see us for a second.


We got Emmalyn this Suns jersey on the way to the Jam Session since the rest of the family had jerseys that we were wearing. We're a little biased, but we thought she looked super cute in it...


Shaylin had fun shooting this giant ball into the giant rim. It must of had some helium in it or something because it was actually really light for how big it was...


She got to shoot on this little rotating basketball hoop. She wasn't able to make it quite to the rims but she had fun trying with a little help from Jayna anyway...

We were actually planning on trying to meet up with the Jayna's family there, but the way it worked out they weren't able to make it until we were getting ready to leave because the girls were really tired and ready for bed. So we got to see them for a few minutes before we left. Her parents, Jayson, Jaycob, and Jaymee were all there.


Matt found a few statues to ride on the way out of the convention center...


But for some reason it was a lot cuter when Shaylin wanted to do it...

While we were there we got to see and meet some of former and current NBA players. Here's a few pictures of the guys we saw...

Alonzo Mourning was there signing books. We didn't wait in line to meet him, but it was kind of cool to see him randomly there.


Shaylin and Jayna got to meet and get autographs from Louis Amundson and Jared Dudley from the Phoenix Suns. They both were really nice with Shaylin and gave her high fives...



Devin Harris from the Nets was there at one of the interactive exhibits...


Shaylin and Jayna also got to meet and get autographs from Alando Tucker and Matt Barnes. Tucker shook Shaylin's hand and then said something like 'bye cute girl' to her. Barnes was also nice and friendly...


Danny Grainger from the Pacers was also at one of the exhibits while we were there...
