A few weeks ago we were outside and Shaylin walked up to one of our chairs, folded her arms on the arm rest, and started looking around. Never one to miss a photo opportunity, Jayna went inside to grab the camera and snapped a few pictures. She unleashed her inner photographer and took a bunch of really good pictures (yes, this is Matt writing this post), so we had a really hard time picking out our four favorites. Of course, since Shaylin is our child, she could look like a complete goofball in a picture and we'd still think she looks beautiful!

A few more cute things that Shaylin has done/said lately (by the way we feel a little bad for doing these Shaylin centered posts and not doing the same for Emmalyn, but rest assured that as soon as Emmalyn starts talking we will be doing similar posts for her):
- Whenever she fluffies (a word that Jayna used when she was little that sounds nicer than the alternatives for passing gas) she smiles and says 'It was me.'
- We're not sure where when or why Matt started saying it, but whenever he lifts something heavy or does something that requires a little strength, the ability to stretch, or anything like that he says 'machaca beef.' Recently Shaylin started doing this as well. Whenever she lifts something or has to open something that is hard to open - like the fridge - she says 'm-chaca beef.'
- Recently, while watching General Conference (a bi-annual televised conference for our church) the President of our church Prophet Thomas S. Monson was about to speak. We explained to her that he is a prophet. A minute later when Matt was trying to explain to her that we should listen to what he had to say because he's important, she disagreed that he was important and said 'No, he's a prophet.'
- She still loves to say prayers before meals and before we go to bed at night. She always says 'I'm grateful for momma... and daddy... and Emmalyn' while pointing at each of us and then she usually starts looking around the room for other things to be grateful for. A few things that she has been grateful for so far are mustard, forks, and daddy's back.
- Every night we give her and Emmalyn a bath. Whenever we ask her to pull the plug and let the water out when we're done the first thing she says is 'Emmalyn all done too?' It's cute that she wants to make sure her little sister is done too before she unplugs the drain.
- Matt usually doesn't buckle his seat belt up right when he first gets in the car so Jayna often reminds him. Shaylin has picked up on this and now if Matt doesn't put his seat belt on right away she says 'Put your seat belt on daddy' repeatedly until he puts it on.
-Some other random words that Shaylin has picked up and added to her vocabulary are 'delicious, fantastic, holy cow (pronounced my-cow), oh cool, oh cute'. She says delicious and fantastic when she eats food that she likes and she says oh cute everytime that one of us get dressed in the morning or change during the day.
-She enjoys being naked. She'll say 'I'm naken' and then run around as fast as she can (if there's room to run around) for a few seconds before she gets in the bath or changes.
-She often uses the word 'need' instead of the word 'want'. The other night we drove through the Walgreens drive through to pick up a prescription, and when we started to drive away, Shaylin said 'I need some french fries please'. First of all, she thought we were driving through a fast food place and when she heard the rustling of the bag she thought we were sneaking french fries without telling her. Plus she said need. She's a funny girl.
-Shaylin also loves to sing the primary song, 'I am a Child of God'. She will sing this many times through out the day. We are glad she loves this song, and love when she sings it. We're excited that she's starting to understand that she is a child of God.

Beautiful photos! My favorite is the last one. She is such a cutie. She must crack you guys up!
Love your recent posts and the pics of Shaylin are so cute! And Emmalyn is growing so fast - we won't recognize her when we come down next week. And thanks for posting the cute things that Shaylin says - they are so precious! Can't wait to see you all and hear Shaylin talking and singing in person. It was fun to see Dominic's pictures on their blog, too!
Shaylin is just getting SOOO big! I can't believe you even have a kid that big! She is too fun! Look at her posing in those pics...hilarious! :)
That was such a cute post! I loved reading about all the cute things Shaylin is doing right now. The things that kids say/do are so funny. I love that she sings "I am a Child of God" all day. When our ward was getting ready for the primary program, Halle kept singing "Called to Serve." It's so much cuter when they sing it!
Wow! Great photos Jayna! Sniff... sniff... there's something in my eye...
