Hugga

Shaylin is getting to be more and more fun as she grows up. Anytime we say 'hug' now she gets excited, says 'hugga!!!,' and runs over to give the person a hug and pats them on the back while she's hugging them. She even initiates hugs, dishing them out to adults she knows and any kids that are close to her size. She has also started to be very helpful. The other day Matt was shredding a big stack of papers and Shaylin walked over and started handing him sheets (or sometimes stacks) of paper to help speed up the process. She also loves to fold her arms for prayers and say amen at the end of them. It's amazing what kids pick up! She is a ton of fun and we are so grateful for the joy that she brings into our lives.

Here's a few pics from the past week and a half:

Shaylin loves to wear sunglasses around the house. Getting her to wear them outside is a different story...

Shaylin decided to try something new this past week. Instead of sitting on her little bus, she stands up on it. Good parents probably would make her get off, but we just took a picture :) She has pretty good balance though and hasn't fallen off yet.

Jayna's dad got us tickets to the Suns vs. Jazz preseason game last week! We were so excited and had a great time sitting 12th row. We took Shaylin to a few games last year, but this was our first game without Shaylin since she was born. Jayna's parents were happy to watch Shaylin that night :).

We have been lucky to have Matt's mom in town for a couple weeks now in anticipation of Becca (Matt's sister) having her baby. Shaylin loves spending time with grandma and is usually running up to her with a book in hand to read.

At our Sunday Hedges/Baker family dinner Uncle Nate (Matt's brother) got a group hug. He's a big hit with Shaylin and her cousins!

Shaylin got a big kick out of wearing this Tupperware as a helmet. We're not sure who's Tupperware it is, but if it's yours we'll be happy to wash it out when you claim it.

This week Shaylin has started to eat snacks on her little picnic table that Jayna's parents got her for her birthday. She looks so old sitting at the table by herself.

This was our main project in the backyard this week. Our good friends Dave and Ashley gave us the bricks. The rest of the material to build the planter including the plants were actually Jayna's birthday present to Matt. We did a before and after picture of the area to give the full effect :) The brickwork is far from perfect but we're excited to have a little more green by the patio.

That planter looks great! How long did it take to build? Shailyn is getting so big. Don't you love it when they initiate the hugs? Matthew initiates more kisses and I love those too!
